I was gifted a $50 AppleBee's gift card as a Christmas present. Unfortunately I lost it a couple days later and called AppleBee's offshore call center dedicated to such issues on December 28th.
Predictably nothing was resolved. After several subsequent calls and emails to their corporate offices, I learned on January 14th that they could not reissue the card because it was redeemed by someone else! I opened up a BBB case against AppleBee's that is still pending over their mishandling of this situation.
As soon as I notified them of my lost gift card, it should have been deactivated and another one reissued and mailed to me. After over 30 minutes chasing them to handle my situation quickly and professionally, this is the absolute worst outcome I was trying to avoid and I will not be returning to any of their restaurants for a very long time - which will cost them a lot more than the $50 gift card I was trying to have reissued to me.
