I contacted Pinole, California, Applebee's at 510-243-**** approximately 12:20 PM.
Initially, I spoke with Ana, who identified herself as the manager.
She refused to refund the $117.00 I was requesting because of being food poisoned, as I had already filed an online complaint.
She gave the store phone to her manager named Arie. Arie also refused to resolve my complaint and stated she refused to apologize and required to see the ER visit documents.
Working in healthcare, her request is a HIPAA violation to demand an individual's personal healthcare document. I updated Applebee's complaint website regarding my phone conversation with both managers
and I now have two case numbers: 362**** and 362****.
6/20/25,
I received a voicemail from Gina at 10:47 regarding my food poisoning complaint sent this AM.
I returned Gina's voicemail but received no answer, so I left a message at 11:39 this AM.
My initial complaint is as follows:
Greetings,
I brought my wife and son to Pinole, California, Applebee's yesterday, 6/19/2025, approximately 1:30 PM through 3:15 PM.
We ordered all-you-can-eat, 2 Bloody Marys, a chicken pasta plate, and a 4-cup order of small margaritas.
We all three shared every item to eat and drink.
After a few hours at home, approximately 5:30 PM, we all three had diarrhea, severe cramps, and vomiting.
My wife and I went to the emergency room for treatment.
Today, my son took a sick day from work, including me.
I paid $100.00 per person at the ER.
Attached is my credit card bill as proof of being at Applebee's yesterday.
I am requesting reimbursement of yesterday's bill as evidenced by food poisoning symptoms.
Please instruct me on your protocol for my reimbursement.

I was a server at Applebee's Easley, South Carolina, for 2 years. Over the years, it has gotten so bad within management.
Dean, the 'general manager,' is never there and is never involved. All he does is talk about his managers to the employees and talk about his employees to the managers. He has made extremely perverted comments to boys there about a minor teenager. He is the reason most employees leave the establishment.
He lied to his employees and said he had the AC looked at but informed another employee that he hadn't ordered anything for it; he just had it looked at. We were without AC for at least 2 months, with the building getting up to 84 degrees, if not higher. He didn't care. The booths are falling apart; he doesn't care.
A little girl got her pants ripped from a metal thing sticking up from a booth; guess what, it's still there. The soda machine is disgusting; it's so moldy. The ice machine has mold all in it. The tea urns have mold in them.
At night, the drains smell like straight manure.
It's disgusting. He also told another manager that he was pissed off at my good review from a regular and said I was just crying to them to get reviews.

I was mislead as to what menu items were included in the two for twenty-five promo. A second menu we were shown clearly spelt out the promo items and related costs!

I ordered the endless riblets, not very meaty, but I only got 1. My waiter disappeared.
By the time he arrived back at the table, we were upset that a special occasion wasn't what we planned. There were 4 people standing at the hostess stand, and none seemed interested in the customers. I called the manager, and she said she was off that day and literally said, 'when the cat's away, the mice will play.' Great business model. Then I called the corporate office and explained the situation, and I've got no response.
Applebee's doesn't care.
They got my money; I paid full price for half of a meal. The sad part is the store manager knew exactly who I was talking about.

Weds @ 7 restaurant was not busy. 1 other person at large bar.
We were at the bar 10 minutes before bartender (MIKA) returned from kitchen to bar. She yelled "WHAT DO YOU NEED" from other end of bar 30 feet away. Advertised 2 for $25 menu and add $2.5 for upgrade. It was actually $5 upgrade because $2.5 x 2 is not the advertised" $40 and get $10 off".
Check came and Mika did not remove the advertised $10 off. She said the $40 must be for food which was not in the written promo. RIPOFF!!!
Much more!!! ABSOLUTE RIPOFF!!!

Awful everything.
Bartender MIKA took 10 minutes to return from kitchen upon arrival. Applebee's was not busy with 1 other person at large, long bar upon our entrance.
Upon returning to bar from kitchen she asked "WHAT DO YOU NEED" loudly because she was preparing libations for servers 30 feet away. RUDE! And we told her so. She said 'I'm busy and you are not the only ones her".
Rude! Handed her a promotion $10 off if we spend $40 before ordering anything" Her response, "that's no longer available". We asked for manager and he said promo is available. Please tell Mika.
Check came and 2 for $25 with $2.50 to upgrade was actually $5. Miserable everything, Still left a good tip.

The Lancaster, Ohio store has no air conditioning, and to my understanding, hasn't had it for a few weeks. We ordered to go, and we were going to eat in an air-conditioned car.
When I got the salads, there were no eating utensils in our bag. So, I went back into a suffocating hot restaurant to get utensils. Then, when opening my salad, it was a joke. Nothing at all like you advertised in the pictures or online, or had I been seated at a table in the restaurant.
I took my salad back in, and the manager took care of it well.
He took care of the bill. My complaint is, if there is no air conditioning in an establishment, and the kitchen is too hot to work in, and can't produce quality food, shame on whoever is in charge to keep the restaurant open and not making sure quality was going out the door.

Incomplete order.
Dry pasta , not enough sauce to cover the pasta.
Hair in food. Examine your food before you eat. But it's hard to see a hair that's deep down in your dish.
Make sure when you order you get was supposed to be on the plate.
Bacon cheeseburger make sure it has bacon on it I shouldn't have to wait an extra 7-8 minutes for something else to come out it's ridiculous.

The Last 3 times that I've been to this Applebee's. Wasn't great.
You had a bacon burger special. love bacon. About the 4th bite in I pulled a hair from my sandwich. I picked the hair up and it was either grilled or however cooked together was stuck.
Called waitress who then called the manager. He said everyone cooking had on hair nets.
I paid for my sister. I didn't get anything else.. it killed the whole vibe.

The salad didn't have a oriental dressing on it it was like a plain dressing on the Oriental salad it just didn't go. My chicken shrimp pasta dish headlight two tablespoons if any of pasta sauce which was red it just didn't look that way on the menu.
Pasta was dry.. we complained at the table but we didn't say anything to the waitress at all.
2 weeks ago my sister and I went back. As usual I had bacon cheeseburger.
I got a cheeseburger with no bacon. Bacon came out afterwards sort of killed the whole mood of the burger and then I didn't get a fresh burger after waiting 7 minutes unacceptable.

Last 3 times wasn't great.bacon with hair stuck to it. Wrong sauce on pasta and salad. Ordered bacon cheeseburger I didn't get the bacon till 7 minutes later screwed up my whole experience.

Awful service
You know its bad when they overcharge you, forget about you and then throw a tantrum for bringing it up.. The GM was so rude that he told me his location wasnt fit me and dismissed me.
The DM has yet to answer it return any of my calls. Food was awful

They also can't keep the "loss" amount straight. It goes from $117 to $317.
I think he’s claiming his two $100 copays for the “alleged “ ER visit in his loss. But the strange thing is you would think he would include that in his compensation request.
All he wants is the meal. Unless there was no definitive diagnosis of food poisoning. He thinks he is being sly and not committing fraud by not including the ER bill in his request. But just him asking for reimbursement for the meal without a definitive diagnosis for his accusation is a crime.
He is counting on the restaurant to buckle. I think someone should alert the restaurant.

The protocol here would be you to provide proof of food poisoning via medical documentation, which you apparently do NOT have, hence your lame "Hippa" non-excuse. You can't prove your allegations without proof and your request for a full refund without proof is inappropriate.

You need to revisit your understanding of HIPAA. You can provide YOUR health info to anyone.
You can provide any minor child of yours health info to anyone. It is not a violation to ask for it either. The violation would be the manager calling the ER and them volunteering the info. You are using that as a lame excuse to not provide it.
If you feel so wronged then take your chances in court. There you either A) will have to provide it to establish injury or B) it will become clear you did not even go.
