General Manager Travis

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Applebees - General Manager Travis
Original review updated Nov 30, 2024

Today on 11-3-24 I bought a $50 gift card for applebee's restaurant and placed an order online and picked the option to pay in store so I could use my gift cards. I get to the store and the front hostess guy brings me out a bag of food and leaves.

I continue to wait so I can pay for it. He comes back and i tell him I need to pay for it and he says no it is doordash. I tell him I ordered the food and I'm not door dash and I need to pay for it. He immediately grabs the bag of food and leaves.

10 minutes later another guy comes out with my bag of food and collects payment. I ask him are you sure that is my food because something weird happened a few minutes ago with a bag of food that had a door dash receipt on it. He shows me the receipt attached to this bag and it is normal looking. He collects my gift card information and leaves to process them.

A while later I see him come out with several receipts in his hands. He starts walking to different tables to hand out receipts/bills. He then proceeds to lower the blinds at a few tables at the far end of the restaurant, Then he comes over with my receipt that he had the entire time. I get home and my food feels cold, but I figure it isnt worth complaining about and surely not worth driving back for.

Then I notice 3 items missing from my food one of which is a main item. I then call the restaurant and prepare to drive back. I speak to Travis who says he is the general manager and he is quite rude on the phone and doesn't want to let me get a word in edgewise. He finally says to come back and he would personally make the food.

I thought that was a little odd and worried if he might tamper with it. I tried telling myself he won't because he is a manager. I get to the store to pick up my remade meal and after a short wait he hands me the meal. I check the meal and everything is there and I prepare to leave.

I had set the missing items meal on the hostess counter when I first got there. So as I get ready to walk away, Travis says we don't want this back you can have it. I tell him, "no, I don't need it". He then aggresively grabs it off the hostess counter and says in an elevated rude voice "thanks for making me throw it away" At this point I'm standing there shocked and have second hand embarrasment for him since other customers heard it.

I then walk over to a waitress and ask for her help in returning the newly made food as I'm not going to eat anything made my applebees after being treated so rudely. Mind you I am the one who had to drive to the restaurant 2 times so I should be the one with an attitude and not Travis. The waitress was nice and said she understood and would get my money refunded. I handed her the bag and after about 10 minutes she came back and said it was done.

I asked her if I could get a receipt showing the refund. She said she would see what she could do. I am out the $50 for the gift card that is nonrefundable and out 2 hours of my time. I'm also out $25 in gas from driving back and forth.

I think I at least deserve an apology from Travis.

Even with an apology this has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will never frequent Applebees again. I will also retell this to every person I know to save them from dealing with Travis.

I have pictures and would like my meal replaced. I am very specific about the meat I consume.

When I do eat red meat 1 to 2 times monthly I always get it cooked WELL DONE! I ordered and wrote no pink.

Then called and asked, to make sure. It was FAR from (no pink!) I did not get my ranch and the lettuce was disgusting!

The manager was totally rude to me and my sister at your Applebee's in Wichita Kansas Rock road North

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My sister and I. Have been sitting over 20 minutes waiting to be served when the manager walked by I was explaining to him that we have been sitting for 20 minutes he says to me don't come at me like that and I was like what I was just saying that we've been waiting then he said well you guys can just leave you want us to leave because we ask a question he was very nasty and rude and I was trying to explain to him I work it fast food I understand people get busy he going to say this is not a fast food and if you don't like it just leave he was very rude to me and my sister.

But they were another customers that were complaining about their stuff he was nice to them I feel like he was disrespecting me and my sister because we were African Americans and he kept saying to us Don't come to me like that what does that mean it sound like to me he was being rude like he was ready to get into a big fight or something so me and my sister left and he going to say good that you get out you leaving and the customer that he had just waited on they were upset and so was another set of customers because they heard everything he said they feel like he was rude too.

Me and my sister eat there all the time but we would never go back to your establishment. He was just really nasty and mean

Very Disturbing Incident

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This incident occurred at 555 Saratoga Ave., San Jose, CA 95129 on August 19, 2024, at approx.10:00 PM.

I recently dined at this Applebee's with my friend. Upon entry, I went directly to the restroom.

In the meantime, my friend was seated by the hostess. My friend is a dark-skinned Filipina. We always sit at a booth and so upon returning I found it strange to see her sitting at an elevated table near the bar. (By the way, there were many empty booths at the time of arrival.) However, I did not say anything to her about this.

We both ordered the endless shrimp and ribs. The chairs at this elevated table were rather uncomfortable because of the bare wood at the back of the chair. The restaurant was quite cold and this was exacerbated by a ceiling vent that was blowing cold air on us. My friend repeatedly complained of the cold and told our waiter about this as well.

We ordered 2 endless ribs and shrimp dinners. When our dinners arrived, the waiter brought us just one plate and told us to share. We thought that was quite strange, because the night before we also ate at this same restaurant and were seated in a booth, and we were given two dinner plates for our endless ribs and shrimp order! Around 20 minutes later my friend got freezing cold, and she was still hungry and thought about leaving.

We then ordered shrimp from another waitress because our waiter just disappeared and asked if we could have it packaged "to go"? We were told that was not possible. After 15-20 more minutes we saw a new family come in and they got seated at a booth! At that point, my friend got extremely upset and very mad and told me how she was rudely refused a booth by the hostess ostensibly because the booth section was closed after 10:00 PM.

We still did not get our shrimp. We both got really angry and left the restaurant and placed an amount of money on the table as to what we calculated the check would be. We did not want to wait another 15 - 20 minutes for the check. We do not plan on coming back

The next day (August 20, 2024) my friend got sick, likely from the cold air on her.

We also believe she was discriminated against because she is a "brown-skinned minority" who was refused to be seated in a booth while we witnessed a white family who later got seated at a booth. This could be a violation of California's Unruh Act.

We may pursue legal action here but would be willing to discuss an amicable solution with Applebee's. We also believe that Applebee's employees require updated remedial training to prevent this from ever happening again. By the way, we have dined for many years at your competitor, Denny's, and we have never had any problem with our table requests.

And if we requested a booth and they were all occupied, then the hostess would tell us that we would have to wait for one to open up. No problem with Denny's!

lol, what did I just read? Give you $10k for some imagined slight? LOL, ok buddy, whatever you say.

Guest

First off, I don't know why the server would only give you one plate. That is weird and I would have found my big person's voice and requested a second plate.

Second, regarding the family set at a booth in a "closed section", well, maybe they bought up a medical reason for needing a booth? Maybe they found that big person's voice I mentioned earlier and demanded a booth?! Maybe the hostess was wrong about the section being closed and only found out after you and your "Filipina friend" were seated. Once you two saw someone being seated in a booth, why did you not tell someone you were going to move because your current seating was not working out?

Why didn't you use your big girl and boy voices and ask for a manager??!!! Why did you think you could take home food from an all you can eat? When in your life have you ever been able to take food from a buffet home?? All you can eat means all you can eat there at the restaurant and not at home!

Why do you think that anyone cares about your "friend" being from the Philippines? Do you not understand that asians are the majority in your area? Why are you comparing applebee's to Denny's? Denny's is open 24/7, so of course they are not going to have closed sections!

What an unfair and unrealistic comparison. Finally, what attorney do you think will take your non-case? Do you really think Applebee's is going to entertain your nonsense and give you money?

You come across as a grifter! If you and your "friend" need help with rent and other bills, stop dining out and seek help from local churches and other organizations.

COMPLAINT & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review updated Nov 03, 2024

On 11/02/24, my wife and visited the Applebee's in Piscataway, NJ. It was crowded but the High Tops were empty and we requested one.

The woman at the hostess station, Robin, gave us a dirty look as though we were bothering her. She had disgust in her answer, asked us to wait a minute while she sat another customer ahead if us, then seated us. We waited a good 10 minutes before anyone came and in that time frame, she made no effort to get someone to take our order. She might have been a Manager, as the wait staff was informing her of different situations and staff.

We were only 2 stools away. Our Waiter, Christian M came over, apologized for his delay, and was very respectful in all means and manners.

We were very impressed with this young man and only wished all wait staff had his demeanor. Robin may need re-training on manners and respect for the customers.

Bad waitress

We had lunch at Applebee's on Lima Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana today. Thank you for the complimentary lunch for my husband, who is a veteran.

Our waitress was Jamyya G. She took our order and another person brought our meal to us. My husband needed a refill on his Pepsi, but we never saw her, so I went up to the bar to get his refill. We had to ask another employee to get our waitress.

A gentleman came to our table today, told us she was preoccupied, and brought us the bill, which we paid in cash. Jamyla came back and had our cash and bill. She took an order at another table before getting us our change. She never checked back on us or thanked my husband for his service.

Because of her lack of attentiveness, she was not left a tip. She was one of the worst waitresses we have ever had at a restaurant.

Wow. Imagine getting a free meal and still stiffing your hostess!

My dad did two tours in Vietnam and has never asked for or expected free food or for someone to thank him for his service.

Someone takes a table order before delivering your charge and that makes them worthy of the title "worst waitress"? The other table was probably more impatient and entitled than you, and that is why she did that.

Guest

Aren't you a peach, naming the waitress on a public internet forum and calling her the "worst waitress". I am sure Veteran's Day was packed at Applebee's, with everyone trying to get their free meal.

I am sure the waitress was doing the best she could under a stressful situation. Poor you, having to wait while she took another table's order before getting your precious.

BooHoo! My heart weeps for you.

About 5 off I got from Applebee's. it is to honor Veterans.

It has no start date. And says good on your next meal. Only has a expired date. I come here all the time.

It is not much of a meal. Then they said it is only be used after Veterans day.

"I cooked it." By Jessica Greene • Published March 11, 2010 • Updated on September 11, 2018 at 6:10 pm She could only keep quiet for so long. The scam drew international headlines and made millions of people think twice about ordering a cup of chili from Wendy's.

Now the woman at the center of the "chili finger" case is talking about the infamous finger-food crime. In 2005, Anna Aayala was dining at a San Jose Wendy's restaurant when she claimed she chomped down on a partially-cooked segment of human finger. The fast food chain suffered an estimated $21 million in lost business. Her husband, Jaime Plascencia, got the severed finger from a co-worker, who lost it in an industrial accident.

Both Ayala and Plascencia pleaded guilty. Aayala was sentenced to nine years in prison but was released after four years on good behavior. There's one condition to her release: She's not allowed to step foot back in the place that made her famous. She's been out of prison for about a year and living in San Jose but until now, she's kept quiet.

Plascencia is still serving time for his role in the scam. Aayala is coming clean now. In an exclusive interview with CBS-5 this week, she apologized to the food chain and revealed a deep secret. "I cooked it," Ayala said of the severed digit.

During the interview, she said she prepared the piece of ring finger at her Las Vegas home then drove it to San Jose, where she dropped it into the chili. Aayala told the reporter other prisoners and even guards ridiculed her and called her names because of the scam that landed her behind bars.

"I learned my lesson and I just want to move on with my life." Looks like Alicia here is doing the same. Well she should be warned about what scamming lie this can get her.

Autry us not a child. The only one that is acting like a child is you.

Not only that. You also are no smarter than a six year old. If you think that person is a child why are you talking about how you want to hook up with them and take a bath together. DISGUSTING FOR WANTING TAKE A BACK WITH A CHILD IF YOU ARE AN ADULT.

DISGUSTING TALKING TO A CHILD THAT WAY.The supposed child knows more than you about how subpoenas works. They are smarter than you.

You are just insulting yourself by calling them a child. It implies that you are saying that a child is smarter than you.

I wonder if she is related to that woman that tried to sue Wendy's when she "found" a finger in her chilli. It turned out it was her boyfriend's finger our something and she lost.

We all know how that turned out. Hopefully, when the lawyers investigate they do the same to Alicia here.

Ajax, Canada Horrible Experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Hello,

This Applebee's location in Ajax, Ontario is awful. For the area in which it is located and the diverse ethnicities that live there, the food choices are absolutely terrible! I asked for the Wonton tacos (which I really enjoyed in Niagara Falls, Canada side) and they were brought out to me considerably smaller and not crispy, but soggy! The Applebee's in Niagara Falls presented them quite nicely on a silver sectioned tray with each Wonton in its own section on the silver tray. I also got some extra dipping sauce on the side. I told the server I did not want them, and explained the ones I had tried and enjoyed in Niagara Falls.

Next, since I could not eat those Wontons, I asked to have the Maple Popcorn shrimp. When those arrived, I did not get the Maple flavoured sauce on the side, it was on the Popcorn shrimp. On the menu, it looks like it is served on the side. So I asked to have some hot sauce on the side and was informed by the waitress and the Manager that they only had Frank's buffalo sauce. I asked if they had a choice of sauce like you do when you choose a sauce for chicken wings. For example, hot, medium-hot, etc. and they proceeded to tell me that all they had was Frank's.

That is absolutely unacceptable! As I stated earlier, many different ethnicities live in that area, it is very multicultural and like to have a menu that reflects that, including different sauces to go with it. This dining experience was absolutely awful and unacceptable. Applebee's, you need to do much better for your customers and the area, location.

Thank you,

Shelley.

The Applebee's menu does not vary according to location or local ethnicity. Corporate decides on the menu offerings and the franchises then have to order and serve that food from designated vendors.

If you picked up this order, then you should have checked before leaving that it was correct. Failing that, you should have returned with your receipt and food for a refund or replacement.

If you ordered delivery, then you need to address this with the 3rd party delivery company for a refund. If the store was closed until Monday, I am not sure how or why you expected to get the corrected food "before then"?!

How does one get food from a closed restaurant? Now I have heard it all!

Guest

Why didn't you immediately return to the store with food and receipt in hand, and ask to speak to the manager? What was going to happen over the phone? You would have had to return anyway to get the missing item, because Applebee's does not have delivery drivers.

I never normally don't make complaints. But my order was to feed my whole family.

We did not get my son's order n he was upset that I had to share my meal with him.
